Trails: Yes, but not really true hiking trails more just short walking paths to get around the park.
Picnic sites: Yes, arranged in single or multiple table sites . Tables were in decent condition and many sites also had grills. Large covered function area with private lawn and horseshoe pits also available for rental.
Playground: Yes. Nice climbing structure with monkey bars and slides, good for a wide range of ages. Nice swing set as well. Pond next to playground means that young children should be supervised at all times.

Today marked the beginning of my goal of visiting every state park in Maine. For my first trip decided to stay close to home and visit Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth. On a Sunday afternoon this is a quick drive from our house in Portland. The day started off cloudy but once we arrived the clouds broke and gave way to a beautiful Maine spring day with temps in the high 50's.
Two lights park is named for the Twin light houses located close to the park but are not actually part of the park. The park itself is located on the sit of a fomer WWII era gun battery built to guard Portland Harbor. The state purchased the land in 1961 and created this wonderful little park.

k is a great getaway from Downtown Portland but is not on the grand scale of many other state parks to the north and west. A number of picnic spots featurung tables and grills that dot the park and are connected by a small network of walking paths that crisscross the hilly landscape. The main draw of the park however, is a classic Maine rocky shoreline. The park also features a great playground situated next to small pond that is home to at least one family of ducks. Also spotted at the park was the biggest wild turkey that I've ever seen close up (see photos).
All in all, a nice little park, not one that I would make a special trip from anywhere outside the greater Portland area, but if you were visiting the
area and wanted a chance to climb around on some rocks along the shore, take in some ocean views or just have a picnic and let the kids run wild for a while this is a great spot.
